The Ant (Prov. 6:6-11)

Read Proverbs 6:6-11.

1.  Its initiative.  An ant is not independent or rebellious but takes initiative.  It doesn't wait for another ant to tell it what to do.  It does intentionally and consistently what an ant was made to do. Don't wait for someone else to tell you what you already know you should be doing.

2.  Its diligence.  An ant is always mindful of its opportunity, understanding the current "season" and exerting itself accordingly.  When you work, work hard.  Apply yourself.  Don't rest when it is work time.

Busy but Breathless (Rev. 3:1)

What a loaded verse!  Dead men pretending to be alive.  Works (ours) substituted for life (Christ's work).  Good works aren't enough.  How deceptive is religion!  It focuses on outside mobility (works) while ignoring internal death rattle.  Responsibility is no substitute for regeneration. 
Religion puts you into auto-pilot mode, except you're gliding toward death.  Religion loves the status quo, loves leaving things at a certain point while missing the point.  God knows your deeds, your good deeds even.  That shouldn't be an automatic comfort.

Don't be busy but breathless.  Don't try doing without being.  Good works from a dead heart won't cut it.

The Job Situation

Last you knew, I was selling vacuum cleaners. When I compared income to expenses, I made $1.25 "profit" per hour. Too little return for so many hours. So I'm back on the job trail. I've applied to the bus company and to Sears. I'm pursuing a lead at Niagara Hospice.

Thanks for praying. God has something.

My First Sale!

Thanks for praying for my job situation. Since October 20, I've been working for the Kirby Company as a sales representative. I don't have any sales experience, so this is new territory.

The first week after training was hard. Many expenses, especially the gasoline. No sales.

Yesterday, I had my first sale! (Thanks, Andrew. I told you I'd never forget you. Did you bag that deer you were after?)

Today, God blessed me again. Two sales in two days. Wow! (Okay, God, let's keep rolling this way.)

Please pray that God leads me to the right customers. I'm a minister first, a Kirby salesman second. I want to keep things in that order.

Hi Ho, Hi Ho...

It's off to work I go. Last night, I announced at our business meeting that I will be looking for full-time work.

If businesses and families must operate from a balanced budget, so must churches. If there were any other way to crunch the numbers and not have to work outside the church I would've done it. It is what it is.

Someone asked me last night, "What kind of work are you looking for?" My reply: "Work that pays." If you know of any good leads in the metro-Buffalo area, please forward them to me at ronedski@yahoo.com. Insights on being bivocational are also welcome. This is new territory for me.
