Just a few weeks ago we had green grass on the ground and colorful leaves on the trees.  It's different now!  Don't worry - this season won't last either.  Spring will arrive soon.  Lesson:  Enjoy the season you are in.

Corvette Criticism

Why there is such division over this wonderful machine, I don't know.  Read about it here.

Some critics think it's a great design.  Those people can probably afford the car, too.  Others think it looks like the Pontiac Aztec.  (I guess that's an insult?)  I'm not sure I get that, but most likely these folks can afford the car too.

For those who know we can't afford the car, and I suspect we're in the majority, we don't care what it looks like.  We're interested in two things:  (1) Can I sit in it?  (2) Can I test drive it?  That's about as far as our "criticism" goes.

The eyes of man are never satisfied (Prov. 27:20).  "The eye is not satisfied with seeing" (Eccl. 1:8).  "He who loves money will not be satisfied with money" (Eccl. 5:10).

Let's not complain about things that aren't worth complaining about.

Everything Has A Season (Eccl. 3:1-8)

Aaron discovered what goes down must first go up.  There is no reward without the upward trek.  Life has its chutes and ladders, its highs and lows.  What do you do in between?  You rest.

Right now I'm in a rest phase.  I had no idea how depleted I'd become.  For three days it was a discipline not to work.  Intentionally, I had to shut down.  Resting isn't easy!  I know it's okay not to feel guilty, but I still battle it.

Gordon MacDonald's book, Restoring Your Spiritual Passion, has been helpful during this time.  I highly recommend it.

Enjoy Your Life

The first snowfall.  Adults groan about it.  Children play in it.  Who do you think has more fun? 

Lord, help me enjoy the life You gave me.  Cause me to appreciate more the people You placed around me.  Ignite play within me.  Life is too serious without it.
