- Read Luke 17:11-19 (NASB).
- Jesus “was passing between Samaria and Galilee” (v. 11).
- The NIV says that Jesus “traveled along the border...” (v. 11).
- Jesus hangs out where “border-line” people live and suffer!
- You know them – They are the diseased, the hopeless, the poor, the victimized, the helpless, the least, the lowly and the lost.
- Perhaps you recognized yourself in that description. The cry of your heart: “Pass me not, O Gentle Savior, hear my humble cry; while on others Thou art calling, do not pass me by.” (Fanny J. Crosby)1
- Jesus was “passing between” because He is the go-between.
- In First Timothy chapter 2 and verse 5, Paul called Jesus “Mediator.”
- To call Jesus “Mediator” means He is 100% God.
- To call Jesus “Mediator” means He is 100% man.
- “For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin” (Heb. 4:15).
- Having discussed the One Mediator (Jesus), let's discuss the one leper.
- We only know his condition – before and after his encounters with Jesus.
- We will discover, as the one leper, that genuinely encountering Jesus means we can't get enough of Him.
- We will discover, as the one leper, that genuinely encountering Jesus means more than being cleansed. Genuinely encountering Jesus means being converted.
