There are three dangers to avoid when we study
prophecy.
- Fearing the future. If you know Jesus Christ as Your Lord and Savior and are serving Him, you don’t have to worry. Exercise wisdom and caution, but don’t fear. God remains in control of world events.
- Forcing the details. Don’t force headlines to fit the Bible and don’t force the Bible to fit headlines. Our conclusions might be accurate. Then again, they might not. Let’s remain humble. We don’t have to be prophecy experts. What the Bible says is enough for us to understand what He wants.
- Forgetting the reality. Just because something catastrophic happens or will happen, doesn’t mean we’re absolved from responsibility. We can’t “check out” and become ambivalent. We must lead the way in compassion efforts to alleviate the suffering of millions. Prophetic events negatively impact people whom God loves.
