How God Provides (1 Kin. 17:1-16) > Part 1

Psalm 37:25 declares that the righteous will not be forsaken and their children will not beg for bread.  That's easy to quote and embrace when times are good.  What about bad times, times of famine?

Famine is a disaster we normally don't associate with America.  We might experience temporary food supply interruption, but we don’t know enduring food shortage.  Each year we gather to a feast called Thanksgiving to reflect upon the fact that God's faithfulness didn't fail us.  Year by year we repeat this tradition and the result never changes.  The pattern is set:  "Great is Thy faithfulness" (Lam. 3:22-23).  Join me in declaring, "We are a blessed people!"

Perish the thought, but what if we weren't blessed -- at least not the way we're accustomed to?  What if there was a famine in America?  How would we respond?
