Summary of Sunday, October 21, 2012

WHAT A DAY IN GOD'S HOUSE!

Here are highlights from yesterday.
  • Sunday Morning
    • Attendance, 78
    • Guests, 6
    • Royal Rangers Awards and Recognition > Five boys were promoted to the Discovery Rangers group.  What polite, delightful young men!  If you're interested in serving in Royal Rangers, see Adam Miller or Cliff Taylor.  Thanks to these two men for their leadership.
    • We had so many children for Sunday School that they all couldn't ride in the van at one time.  That's a wonderful problem to have!  Let's keep praying for that second van!
    • One of our guests (Bob) gave his heart to Jesus.  That's why we do what we do.  Please pray for Bob this week as he takes the next steps in his journey with Jesus.
    • Part 4 in series "Lego God."  Today we considered "The S.A.T. God."  God is not out to complicate things.  He is not out to confuse us or keep us guessing.  He wants us to know Him.  He wants us to have a relationship with Him.  You don't have to study, study, study and work, work, work and then hope you get a high enough score to earn God's approval.
    • Operation Christmas Child > Praise God for the forty-nine boxes that came in, but forty-nine wasn't fifty.  Fifty was our declared goal.  Someone quickly volunteered to donate the 50th box.  Thank you, Apollo Assembly, for your generosity!  Children all over the world will be surprised and blessed Christmas morning.
  • Sunday Evening
    • Taste of Chili > Many had eaten dinner by 6:30.  For some "Taste of Chili" served as their dinner meal.  I'll take any excuse for more togetherness.
    • "Let's Talk" > I brought up a few growth challenges andc gladly received input from the congregation.  Whether challenges become obstacles depends on our response.  We cannot expect growth without challenges and sacrifice.  Growth first, convenience second.
