Bishop Barnabas Mtokambali, or "Bishop Barnabas" as he is called, is from Tanzania. There he actively pastors a thriving church while serving as the General Superintendent for the Assemblies of God. This morning he spoke to a large group of lead pastors and church planters who gathered at Allison Park Church (north of Pittsburgh).
- The population of Tanzania is 40 million+.
- Tanzania is only 17% evangelical.
- The overwhelming majority in Tanzania are poor. Tanzania recognizes three classes of poverty.
- It is the goal of the Assemblies of God in Tanzania to plant 10,000 churches in 10 years. (This initiative began in 2009.) More than 2,000 churches have been planted already. That's success!
- Bishop Barnabas outlined 7 non-negotiables for church plants, then shared a 7-step church- planting process.
