We're continuing to read through the Gospel of John. Today's reading is John 7:37-8:1.
-----
You cannot be neutral when it comes to Jesus. Whether your opinion is true or not, whether it is accurate or not, whether it is biblical or not, you do have an opinion about Jesus (Mt. 12:30). Who do you say He is? (Mt. 16:15)
Talking about Jesus is a passionate endeavor. Jesus' detractors certainly are passionate. The ease with which they use His name in vain! The ease with which they use His name as a curse word! May Jesus' followers also be passionate when talking about Him! (Ac. 4:8-12, 19-20)
When passion meets passion, watch your temper. Be prepared for someone not to like the idea that you're praising Jesus. Don't return violence with violence or insult with insult (Rom. 12:21).
Much of the detractors' argument is based upon faulty information. Such intellectual and spiritual laziness! They wouldn't do thorough, objective research. They'd do anything to avoid the possibility their findings might contradict what they prefer to believe. Some simple investigation could've cleared up the matter.
