“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for Thou art with me” (Psa. 23:4, NASB 1977).
The Lord is with you in the valley (symbolic of any severe, and sometimes extended, situation in life). In context, why is He with you? Because you have followed His leading there! Included in “the paths of righteousness” (23:3) are those which lead to experiences (trials) you would rather not face. Those who are not with God, that is, those who refuse to follow His leading, cannot claim that He is with them.
What's the big deal about following the Lord's leading, thus being assured of His presence? His presence is your antidote to fear. When you find yourself afraid, one thing you must settle is whether you've detoured onto an unauthorized path.
Here is your weekly protein.
1. Answer these questions.*What is the “valley” you are facing right now?
* Do you believe that the Lord is with you in that valley? If not, why?
3. Memorize Psalm 23:4.
4. Remember: “The paths of righteousness” are always profitable, though not always pleasant.
