Read Mark 1:3.
1. The world we live in is a wilderness. (Think about "wilderness" conditions and draw parallels to today.) It might be that your life is a wilderness!
2. There needs to be a voice in the wilderness. This voice needs to be clear, courageous and convincing. It will be contrary to the usual sounds. The theme of this voice is repentance.
3. The Lord wants to invade and occupy your wilderness. He wants to come to you. Prepare His way.
4. The Lord is the Baptizer in the Holy Spirit. What a difference the Holy Spirit makes in the wilderness! (cf. Isa. 32:15)
