BIBLICAL
HOPE TETHERS YOU INWARDLY.
“This
hope we have as an anchor
of the soul.”
- “Tether me inwardly . . . why do I need that?”
- If you are dealing with (or have dealt with) or know someone who is dealing with (or has dealt with) any of the following – calamity, rape, surgery, prolonged hospital stay, chemotherapy, debilitating disease, depression, bereavement, wayward children, divorce, financial disaster, heartache, etc. – then you realize the value of having an anchor.
- What do you do when these things happen?
- What do you do when these things weaken your resolve, scatter your thoughts, and hijack your emotions?
- What you need is an “anchor of the soul.”
- You don't need a meaningless cliché.
- You don't need a sedative or more pepto.
- You don't need medical marijuana (or any kind, for that matter).
- You don't need to cross your fingers and hope for the best.
- You don't need for your preferred candidate to get elected President of the United States.
- You don't need to spend money you don't have to experience things you never did.
- You don't need to drown yourself in a bottle or prick yourself with a needle.
- You need more than the power of positive thinking.
- You need more than luck to be in your favor.
- You need more than anything and everything the world has to offer.
Lyrics: “Will your anchor hold in the storms of life,When the clouds unfold their wings of strife? When the strong tides lift, and the cables strain,Will your anchor drift, or firm remain?
We have an anchor that keeps the soulSteadfast and sure while the billows roll,Fastened to the Rock which cannot move,Grounded firm and deep in the Savior's love.”1
- Quote: “Think of calamity as a time to show the Lord and the world what you really believe about God. We can make very bold claims when everything is going our way, but when events happen that are out of our hands we must trust the Lord with every fiber of our being.”2 (Brian Evans)
