THERE IS THE
HINDRANCE OF PROPHECY (1:6-8).
The apostles wanted to know if it was the end time. Jesus preempted the question and basically told them, “Don't worry
about that
time; be concerned about this
time.” In other words, “Keep your eyes on what I'm doing today, not just
on what I will do at some point in the future.”
How divisive and distracting prophecy can become! While prophecy is filled with hope, what will happen in the last
days should not distract us from pursuing what Jesus is
doing in this
day.
By the way, there is nothing wrong with prophecy itself. Titus 2:13 says that we are to be “looking
for the blessed
hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and
Savior, Christ Jesus.”
