Zechariah Chapter 14

Read Zechariah Chapter 14.

This chapter describes what will happen in "The Day of the Lord."  The events in this chapter are awesome.  Don't get caught thinking the writer is using figurative language.

Here are several takeaways:

  • God is sovereign.  He has a plan and He is able to execute it.  He has a plan - for His Church, for His chosen people (the nation of Israel), for you.  What God starts, He is able to finish. Because of this truth, He is trustworthy.  Have you put your trust in God?  (The God of the Bible, not just any god.)
  • Jesus is supreme.  There is no other Name more worthy of mention, adoration and exaltation.  No angel is higher.  No cherub or seraph comes even close.  No saint, past or present, is in the same class.  Jesus is supreme because of Who He is and because of what He has done.  He will reign physically, personally and perfectly on this earth for 1,000 years (known as the Millennial Reign of Christ).  You say you believe in God.  Do you believe in Jesus? (Jn. 14:1). What is your definition of "believe"?  It is more than agreement with the facts or a head nod to orthodoxy.  "Belief" includes follow-through evidence of conformity.  (You do not believe in Jesus if your choices and pursuits consistently contradict what the Bible plainly teaches.)
  • The time to settle your relationship with Jesus Christ is RIGHT NOW.  TODAY is the day of salvation (2 Cor. 6:2). Tomorrow might be too late.  Repent!
