What The Bible Says About Syria (Part 1)

This post begins a four-part series on yesterday's sermon at Apollo Assembly of God.  The subject is Syria.  Stay tuned for the next 3 installments.

Introduction:

• Lately, you've probably heard Syria mentioned in the news. What's all the fuss?
• The country has been in a protracted civil war. More than 100,000 people have been killed and over 2 million citizens have left the country. It is estimated over 5 million are displaced within the country. They haven't left yet, but they are homeless and on the move. We're told that reports indicate that President Bashar al-Assad used chemical weapons to suppress his people.
• The bad news is that the situation in Syria can and will get worse. Even if diplomacy works for a time and postpones governmental implosion there, it is only a matter of time before Damascus is annihilated.
• That statement sounds harsh, I know, but I have biblical evidence to back it up. Passages from three Hebrew prophets forecast doom upon Syria.
