Abuse, Never. Spanking...?

"Ninety percent of parents may be putting their kids at risk for mental health problems" (1).  Perhaps you could move on after reading such a sentence.  I couldn't.  Whether I would agree with the author's conclusions or not, I was hooked.

The topic for discussion was spanking.  Parents who spank their children set them on a path of mental instability -- if you agree with the author, that is.

So what do you think, parents?

  • Spanking or no spanking?
  • If spanking is used, how do you prevent crossing the line into abuse?
  • Do you agree with the correlation between spanking and mental health issues?  If so, why?  If not, why not?
