Loud Appeal (Mt. 20:29-31)

Prayer is an appeal.  In this case a loud, intense appeal.  Imagine backing God into a corner (through your desperation, not your power) and then double-dog-daring Him to respond to your need.  There is an urgency and a desperation involved, a reminding God that, unless He intervenes, nothing changes.  Things stay the same, at best.  Eventually, status quo gives out.  The plateau dry rots and things get worse.  Prayer is the simple, logical-emotional cry, "Help!"  There's nothing like a little "umph" to fuel your praying!  Notice the fine balance between reverence and desperation in this account.
